This spicy Arrabbiata Sauce adds a fiery kick to your meals. I've tweaked my favorite recipe after numerous trials, perfecting it for pasta, pizza, and more.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 0.25 medium red onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 1.5 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 can whole peeled San Marzano tomatoes 28-ounce
  • 1 pinch brown sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, warm the avocado oil over medium heat. As it heats, the oil will shimmer slightly.
  • Add the finely chopped red onion and garlic, stirring as the kitchen fills with a savory aroma. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the red pepper flakes and sea salt, feeling the slight tickle of spice in the air.
  • Pour in the San Marzano tomatoes, crushing them gently with a spoon to retain some texture, and reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
  • Let the sauce thicken over 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a pinch of brown sugar for balance.

Notes

After experimenting in my kitchen, I've found that the type of oil and onion really impact the depth of flavor. This spicy Arrabbiata Sauce is now my go-to for quick and delicious meals.
