Base Mix:
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Optional Add-Ins:
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
Base Mix:
Add all of the spices to a small bowl.
Whisk or stir well until the mix looks evenly combined and no clumps remain.
Use it right away, or pour it into a sealed jar and store it for later.
Store the mix in an airtight jar away from heat and light for the best flavor.
Make it mild by cutting the cayenne in half or leaving it out completely.
If you’re using this blend in taco meat, brown the meat first, then stir in the seasoning with a splash of water so the flavors can bloom and coat everything evenly.
